Statement of Intent
MEDIA STATEMENT OF INTENT
Media Institutions
In my advertisements for the horror channel,
I will stick to the rules that have been created by the ASA to put across a well-received
advertisement. Some of these rules created include, to respect the principles
of fair competition generally accepted in business, and that advertisements
should be legal, decent, honest and truthful. To incorporate these into my
advertisement I will present the clear information on the advertisement along
with complying to the other rules that have been created by the ASA. the
average cost of advertising a full page in a magazine is £184,837 which is able to create a bigger
revenue for the magazine giving the different companies the opportunities to
advertise in their magazine. Magazines with certain genres such as,
entertainment magazines will mainly advertise companies who are in the
entertainment industry to appeal to the audience’s who are interested in TV and
movies, which will be able to create a bigger response for the companies to
receive from the advertisement.
Media Representation
Audiences for the advertisement will be
a young audience (16-25) so I will try to make the advertisement seem exciting
and intriguing to them so they will want to find out more about the channel. However,
I can’t make the advertisement too scary as it will be placed throughout the
magazine and younger audiences than the intended audience may see it so I will
try to make the advertisement seem quite mysterious so my intended audience would
want to watch it.
Media Audience & Media Language
The way I will present my magazine is by
sticking the two stereotypical colour schemes of the horror genre, which is red
and black, which will be easily recognisable to an audience in an entertainment
and especially fans of the horror genre. I will also either choose between a
simple or quite bold font for three typography on the poster which may help to
attract an audience for the channel. For the images of the poster, I will stick
to a quite mysterious and slightly scary photographs that will give away that
the channel is for the horror genre but not too scary so it will be appropriate
for all audiences to view in a magazine.
